Lydia Hannah Debeer and Margarita Maximova are presenting a collaborative work titled Through Desire. Because of their long standing friendship, the desire for a collaboration already existed for a while.

For this work in particular Hannah had asked Maximova to create a visual response on an auditory piece. After Maximova had added a sketch for the visual aspect, Lydia then reworked her song. In this way they kept on going back and forth, weaving the work together as a digital tapestry. A crucial part of this tapestry are the recordings of Laurens Dierickx's undulating improvisation on the Hammond organ.

In the video we hear a voice murmuring to us about how desires can alienate us from each other and ourselves, making us drift and get lost in a forest of contradictions. The image takes us underwater, among the beautiful reflecting algae, fish and jellyfish, where we seem to flow along without being able to choose our direction.
